Product Questions & Comments (10 items)

  • Thank you for your question, Britt. QuietCoat does not dry clear, but light gray. You may view the 'Car Application Video' in the Download Center on the right hand side of this page to get a better idea of the color.

  • Would this work to help music noise that is traveling to an upstairs office from a studio? The studio space has tin ceiling panels. I wondered if I sprayed the ceiling and walls with this, and then painted over that, if it would reduce noise leakage and improve acoustics within the studio (lessen echoing). Thanks!

Using QuietCoat would have some effect, but in your case it would be easier and more cost efficient to use AudioSeal Drop Tile Barrier. Here is the URL to this product:

  • Could you paint over this product and still get the full benefit of the product?

    4 Positive

  • Hi Juan, No testing has been done on this in particular, but I talked with some of our Technical Sales Reps and they agree that a thin layer of paint should not interfere with the vibration damping ability of QuietCoat.

  • Hi, Just wondering if this is the same or similar to what used to be marketed as QuietCar. If so, what is the shelf life? thanks.

    Dennis G. -

    3 Positive

  • Hi Dennis, You are right, this product can be used the same way as QuietCar. QuietCoat should store fine for quite a long time as long as it is kept in a dry area, shielded from direct sunlight, and kept from freezing. You should store it between 45 and 100 degrees Fahrenheit. There is no specified shelf life, but QuietCoat does come with a 90 day limited warranty. Please call us for details: 800-782-5742

  • can this product be used on existing drywall and then painted over?

    tim - architecture

    4 Positive

  • Hi Tim,

QuietCoat isn't usually used on drywall as it performs its best when used with metal and other nonporous materials. If you are looking for a damping compound to reduce airborne sound transmission through walls, check out QuietGlue Pro. You would use this material with a new layer of drywall which you could then paint over. (http://acousticalsolutions.com/31~quietglue-pro)
