Small rooms like studios, garages and home sound systems need a very efficient surface to diffuse interferring rear wall reflections and provide a diffuse sound field. Specular reflections from flat, hard surfaces cause strong reflections that corrupt speech intelligibility and degrade sound quality. Because bass frequencies have very long wavelengths, bass absorption products usually require space - one thing that is in short supply in most project studios. However, the corners between two walls or between a wall and a ceiling usually go unused. To constructively utilize this space, RPG developed this corner Bass trap. It utilizes a proprietary membrane, with high internal losses and 3 to 4 times the efficiency of conventional membranes, with an incredible efficiency of 80% at 80Hz. The cavity supporting the membrane is molded into a trapezoidal shape to fit into these 90-degree corners. To further broaden the range of frequencies being absorbed RPG has added a 2" perforated fiberglass mat in the cavity 1/4" from the membrane.

The 2' x 2' face of the Bass trap is wrapped or covered with your choice of a Guilford of Maine fabric from the FR 701, Style 2100 line. To further control room modes, the Bass trap can be mounted into a standard T-Bar ceiling over the mixing position and on sidewalls to either side of the mixing position.
