Since project studios are usually small rooms, a very efficient omni directional diffuser is needed to control first order reflections from the rear wall and contribute to promoting a diffuse sound field in the room. Attention to fire-safety, cost, weight, aesthetics and ease of installation were RPG's design goals.

To achieve these goals, a new 2-D diffuser was developed. To manufacture this 8" deep and extremely complex surface, with virtually no draft angle on the 156 unique rectangular phase blocks in a single 2’ x 2' panel, a new plastic molding technology was developed, using a Class B fire-retardant formulation. Since this new diffuser resembles a metropolitan cityscape, it is called the Skyline.
