RPG FLATFFUSOR

Well-balanced acoustical designs contain an appropriate combination of absorption, reflection and diffusion. In many applications, however, limited budget or surface treatment thickness precludes the use of diffusion. Absorptive, fabric wrapped panels are specified for lack of an alternative. Unfortunately, wide area application may lead to an acoustically "dead" environment without "air" or ambience.

To solve this problem, RPG developed the first flat, zero depth diffusor: the Flatffusor. The Flatffusor simultaneously provides uniform sound diffusion at high and mid band frequencies and crosses over to pure sound absorption below the diffusive cutoff. The energy that is not diffused is absorbed.

RPG ABFLECTOR BASS ABSORPTION PANEL

Interfering reflections from a critical listening room's boundary surfaces corrupt timbre and stereo imaging. Therefore, signal processing and image placement will not transfer accurately to other listening environments. The most effective way to minimize this form of acoustic distortion is to absorb the interfering reflections over a broad range of frequencies. To extend the low frequency absorption effciency of conventional flat absorptive panels, RPG developed the Abflector. The Abflector is a novel and economical internally hinged, upholstered absorptive panel. It ships flat bout mounts with most of the absorptive material away from the boundary surface for improved low frequency absorption. RPG Abflector

RPG SKYLINE DIFFUSER 7"

Since project studios are usually small rooms, a very effcient omnidirectional diffuser is needed to control first order reflections from the rear wall and contribute to promoting a diffuse sound field in the room. Attention to fire-sefety, cost, weight, aesthetics and ease of installation were RPG's design goals. To achieve these goals, a new 2-D diffuser was developed, which is based on a primitive-root number-theory sequence, based on the highest prime ever used. To manufacture this 7" deep and complex surface, with virtually no draft angle on the 156 unique phase blocks in a single 2' x 2' panel, a new plastic molding technology was developed, using Class B fire-retardant formulation. Since this new diffuser resembles a metropolitan cityscape, it is called the Skyline.
