Top 10 Frequently Asked Questions:

  1. I need to soundproof my room, what do I do?
There are many ways to soundproof a room, and contrary to what some blogs and forums say, stapling old egg cartons to your walls isn't one of them – though it might give your walls a cool recycled look!  To prevent sound from traveling from one room to another, you need to work with products that block noise from traveling through the drywall or wall studs.  Some products you might want to look into are AudioSeal™ Noise Barrier, Green Glue, and Resilient isolation clips.
  2. Does Acoustical Solutions, Inc. have a local representative in my area?
While we do supply many of our products to building supply stores, system integrators, acoustical specialists, and sound engineers throughout the world, our only sales and support facility is located in Richmond, Virgina.
  3. What are my Shipping options?
If ordering from the website, we offer UPS Ground and UPS Next Day.  Other shipping options are available when placing an order directly with one of our knowledgeable sales representatives.  For more information on shipping options, or if you have a special shipping request, please call 1-800-782-5742.
  4. Can I order custom (non-rectangular or non-square) panels if I don't see them on the website?
Yes, if you need panels in irregular shapes or sizes we can more than likely work with you to get your custom designed panels manufactured.  Some times custom orders take longer to manufacture depending on the project, so if you have a custom project that you would like for a project, it's best to let us know as early as possible so we can make sure you have your panels when you need them.
  5. How long will it take for me to receive my order?
Lead times for our products vary depending on the type of product.  Many of our products can be ordered and received within a single week.  However, the majority of our products require a 2 - 3 week lead time.  We make every effort to have your orders to you as soon as possible, however, from time to time, some orders may require more than a 3 week lead time.  If you have questions about an order, please call 1-800-782-5742 and we would be happy to assist you.
  6. Does Acoustical Solutions, Inc. have products that are environmentally friendly?
At Acoustical Solutions, Inc., we care a great deal about the impact we have on our planet.  We have worked diligently over the past 5 years to develop a comprehensive line of environmentally responsible products made with recycled content.  Many of these acoustical products can help projects qualify for LEED® credits.  For a full list of our environmentally friendly products, please see our LEED® category on our main product page.
  7. What options are there for quieting noisy pipes and air vents?
Noisy pipes and air vents can be a problem for all sorts of buildings.  Regardless of if you're in an office or at home, noisy pipes can be a huge distraction and can prevent you from easily completing common tasks like talking on the phone.  Acoustical Solutions, Inc. supplies many products that can help!  We stock pipe and duct wrap and lag and also supply air returns that help reduce the amount of sound that travels from one room to the next.
  8. Which of your products can be used outdoors?
Acoustical Solutions, Inc. is proud to offer a wide selection of outdoor acoustical products ranging from outdoor acoustical wall panels, to vibration isolation products to sound-blocking walls for industrial, residential development and commercial use.  Depending on your project needs, we can suggest a variety of products that may control the noise or improve the acoustics of your outdoor project.
  9. I am setting up a home recording studio, where do I start?
Congratulations on your decision to set up a home recording studio!  There are many products out there claiming to be a total solution for setting up a studio in your home and there are many 'do-it-yourselfers' who will claim they know the best way.  Our advice is to read as much as you can about studio acoustics and talk with people who work in the industry.  To kick-off your reading, use our studio education resources and once you're ready to talk to someone about your project needs, we would be happy to offer our advice.
  10. I have a limited budget, is there any hope?
Don't be frightened by budget constraints.  Remember that if you're using the right products, a little can go a long way.  Often times, you can acoustically treat a space with a modest budget. We have found that most projects can be treated by one of three solution price points.
At the lowest price point, your solution will make a noticeable improvement in the acoustics. The middle price point solutions offer typically offer more sound control than the lowest priced solutions and also provide you with additional features like finish types. The higher priced solutions offer both superb sound control and a much larger selection of options that allow you to truly customized the look and feel of the space you wish to treat.
