Alpha Composite Installation Instructions

**Note: For ceiling or overhead applications a mechanical fastener is required such as a pin and cap system. Please call 1-800-782-5742 with any questions.

1. Installation with a water-based panel adhesive

The AlphaComposite foams offered by Acoustical Solutions, Inc., may be adhered to surfaces with any water-based panel adhesive. For your convenience, Acoustical Solutions offers two versions of the water-based panel adhesive, the AlphaPanel adhesive (Part #AAAD) and the Sonex Panel adhesive (Part #SPA-02). Each of the adhesives cover 32square feet per tube and can be used in any standard  caulking gun.

Step 1:

  • Place the sheet of foam pattern side down on a flat surface.
  • Apply a bead of adhesive along all four edges of the foam
  • Apply to more beads of adhesive so that each of the diagonal corners are connected, basically drawing an X across the foam. (see drawing below)

Step 2:

  • Immediately press the foam against the surface it is to be adhered to. Note: If the foam is allowed to sit with the adhesive on it, the adhesive will form a "skin" and will not stick effectively.

2. Installation with a spray adhesive

The AlphaComposite foams offered by Acoustical Solutions can also be adhered to surfaces with a spray adhesive. For your convenience, Acoustical Solutions offers a AlphaSpray adhesive. This covers a total of 100 square feet per aerosol can.

Step 1:

  • Hold aerosol spray can 6" away from surface. Spray both the foam and the surface being attached to. Let both get "tacky" and apply.

*Note: Be sure to have the foam in the correct spot, once you apply the foam you do not have much "play" or ability to reposition it, because the adhesive sets up quickly.

3. Installation with PSA (peel & stick adhesive) backing

  • The AlphaFlat foams come with an option for a PSA (peel & stick adhesive backing) where all you need to do is peel the paper backing on the foam and apply to foam to a clean surface with steady pressure while adhesive sets up.
