Picture an elegant, award-winning country club formal dining room in south Florida - an array of windows providing a breathtaking view of three championship golf courses. Now picture this dining room filled to capacity with 300 guests for Sunday brunch or a special function - conversing at high decibel levels to compensate for sound reflection off windows and hardwood floors, straining to hear each other over the clatter of dishes.

When remodeling 6,000 square feet of clubhouse dining areas and lobby, The Fountains Country Club in Lake Worth, Fla., carefully considered these appearance and acoustic issues.

The Fountains Country Club, a private 900-member golf and tennis club within a gated community, "definitely needed a ceiling product that had an elegant appearance," said Leslie Karen, director of purchasing, The Fountains Country Club.
Her other concern was acoustic control - reducing noise levels. Leslie Karen stated that she was concerned that the older member population might have difficulty clearly hearing each other in a large dining room full of windows. Excess noise was a potential problem that they wanted to be proactive about preventing.
