Product Questions & Comments (4 items)

  • there is a hotel right behind my house, recently they built a bandstand and the music and bands that play there until 10 pm every night is ruining my mental health, would your wall cut the noise? If they sound proofed their stage with this material would it help? All of the neighbors are going crazy too, could we afford to build this wall across the back of our homes? Thanks in advance for your help. Connie

  • Connie - If built correctly, this wall would cut the noise from the band. There are a few factors that we would need to know about first, including the distance from your house to the band and whether the band is up hill or down hill from your house.

This product might not be the best bet to block sound for your entire neighborhood because, depending on how big your neighborhood is, we might not have enough of the product in stock (because it is surplus). Any of our other exterior wall systems, however, will work just as well or better than this product, and we can build a wall as big as you would like with them. • We live next to a busy street and the traffic gets louder all the time. We have a wooden fence and are building a new deck. For a sound barrier, what would be the best - something on the wooden fence about 50 feet away or a wall around the deck but blocking the view?

    Karen,

Where the sound barrier should be placed depends on the location of the noise source in relation to your deck. If you can see the traffic, you will hear it.

So if your current fence visually blocks your view of the traffic, adding a vinyl barrier to it will block traffic noise. If you can see traffic over your fence from your deck, your current fence is not tall enough. If this is the case, a better option may be to install a new, taller, noise blocking fence like AcoustiWood, pictured here. Here is the URL for this product: http://www.acousticalsolutions.com/acoustiwood

If the traffic is so far uphill from your residence that an 8 foot fence will not block it visually, you would have to install some sort of barrier around your deck.
