  • Are your outdoor sound dampening panels effective in reducing noise from a home heat pump compressor? I would install the panel on the house side of the enclosure surrounding the heat pump.

  • Joseph,

These would work well for your outdoor compressor enclosure! We would recommend that you install the panels along ALL interior sides of the enclosure, however. This would produce the best results because it would eliminate surfaces off of which sound could reflect. The other product we recommend for this type of application are the AFQA-10 Sound Absorbing Blankets (http://acousticalsolutions.com/587~audioseal-absorber-blanket), which would also be used to line the inside sides of the enclosure.

  • I am building a shooting range and was wondering if PolySorpt installed inside the three sided range building would significantly reduce the noise from rifle and handgun fire.

  • Al,

These panels will quiet the area to point, but would probably not be sufficient sound absorption for something as loud as a shooting range. To judge how much noise a panel will absorb, we look at the NRC rating. The higher the NRC rating, the more noise reduction will occur. A good alternative for a range would be our AlphaEnviro PVC/Ripstop panels. They have a higher NRC rating, are cost effective, and more durable than fabric wrapped.
