Fire Stop Putty Pads provide acoustical protection for wall penetrations in the form of a release lined pad for easy application to electrical boxes or other penetrates.

The pad is conveniently sized to fit standard single or double gang boxes with no cutting or piercing required.

Faced on both sides with a poly liner, Firestop putty pads are easily applied with no mess or excessive residue.

for ceiling application, can you use these putty pads on or around recessed can lights?

I have the same question, it should be OK to coat a recessed housing light fixture with fire putty pads, right?

Unfortunately, stopping sound from penetrating through can lighting is very difficult, and not advisable when it comes to this putty. The problem comes from having to completely seal openings and joints to stop the noise. If there is a tight seal around the can it builds up too much heat and pops the bulb.
